As LTS (Life Training School) is coming up here in OKC in September… I went back and reflected on my time spent during the program last year.
The one session stuck out to me the most… It was the fruit and roots of pride. UGH… was that a difficult session to sit through and not be convicted for anyone in the room. It is known, through the word, God opposes the proud, gives grace to the humble. We are told to humble ourselves before the Lord. “Humility reveals and makes known, pride hides and conceals,” by Floyd Mclung. MAKE IT KNOWN AND THE DEVIL CAN’T US IT AGAINST YOU!
Pride makes us take credit for what God has done for us!!
Some symptoms of Pride:
- unforgiving heart
- judgement spirit
- focus on what you don’t have instead of what you do have
- doesn’t rejoice when people are happy, but when they are hurt
- self-centered
- builds wall towards people
- not taking risks of loving someone
- unteachable spirit
- quick to defend themselves
- not admit mistakes
- not willing to be weak, to receive or to be patient with others
- independent
- rebellious
- against authority
Ok, so that was a long list BUT we know that being HUMBLE will set us FREE!!
Begin to ask God today to show you areas in your life (whether they are proud or not) on how to be more humble towards other people and God this coming week.
Humility sees weakness in others and still loves them. Humbling yourself you become exalted and true exaltation is to be like Jesus!
Go be like Jesus this week…. A humble man that gave his life for others!
