I recently heard from a dear friend who was telling me that he had just visited the grave site of an old prophet, Leonard Ravenhill, who challenged many of us through his writings and preaching. The cry of Ravenhill to every person was to live a life of complete devotion to Christ. More than 20 years ago, the Holy Spirit used his book, Why Revival Tarries, to confront my own life.
His passion and focus were intense. His ambition in life, often quoted by him, was to be “on the devil’s most wanted list”! I think he succeeded at that.
On his simple tombstone are written the words, “Is what you are living for worth Christ dying for”. Even in his death, he is still challenging those of us who are serving this generation to live a life worthy of Christ (Eph 4:1).
Here is the message… Since Jesus is an ALL-POWERFUL GOD and NOTHING is impossible to those who believe [in Him]… then am I living an unlimited, dangerous life where the impossible happens regularly? Is what I am giving my life to worthy of Christ dying for? We must contend for nothing less!
