Stale Molded Bread

What do you do with a loaf of stale molded bread?  I’m guessing you said, “throw it out” or “feed it to the birds”.  If we wouldn’t eat stale molded bread why do we try to live off past spiritual experiences?  As far as I know there is no way to make old bread new again.  Past experiences are great; they help us get to where we’re going. We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the experiences we have had with God in the past.

I’ve heard the term “I remember when…” a lot lately and it’s usually referring to when God did this or when he moved this way. It’s good to remind ourselves of God’s goodness to us and his mercies being new every morning. But, we have to get beyond the past and listen to what he is wanting to do today.  My prayer is that may we never forget what God has done but may we not get stuck in the past and loose what he is trying to do in the here and now. If we continually look in the rearview mirror of life we will never see the current move of God.
