Gen-Xers—Boomers—Busters—Millennial kids—Alternative music—Extreme Sports
These are all terms representing a world reeling under the intoxicating influence of a generation seeking to find direction and make an impact, while maintaining some kind of identity in the chaos and gender-blending of this era.
After drugs, a deluge of media sex and absentee fathers, this generation is poised to reach beyond their environment and become a generation that refuses to be brushed aside or overlooked. They are not “bummed out” or tripping out” . . . they are searching for truth in the midst of the coldness of modern life and emptiness that has accompanied a society that is bankrupt of values and morality. They refuse to be phony! In spite of the high tech deception that is fed through the secular world, there is a remnant that refuses to be disillusioned.
These world changers recognize that the life that Jesus imparts to us is not “propped up” by the surroundings in which we live. It does not draw its vitality or zest from the atmosphere around it. It is internal and it is impacting!
You no longer have to live in the survival mode that has limited your life an vision. You are now empowered to be a person of impact . . . a change agent, representing the Kingdom of God. In II Timothy, the apostle Paul is issuing a challenge to his spiritual son Timothy . . . a mandate, “Be a world changer!” Like Timothy, this generation is rising to the call to become soldiers in the army of God.
