advice

My father always told me, what I call a nugget of thought, when I was getting older and branching out into my own…

“Don’t let people counsel you, that can’t help you!”

I never knew how RIGHT he was until I figured out the WRONG way of getting advice or counsel. I have made mistakes many times “talking”, “venting”, or “getting advice” from people that had no idea how to help me. It’s not that they weren’t Godly – they just were not a place to help me in that situation. Many young adults my age “seek” advice or wisdom from friends, co-workers, or church members that are not in the place to help them. We are so impatient sometimes we take the first “nugget of thought” given to us and think it is the best one… without praying or processing through it.

I always tell people, “If you are upset or need to get something out…. vent up!”  Talk with someone that can help you process the situation and give you sound advice… not just agree with you.

So, this week when you need some advice or are  just looking for inspiration for your next step in life… seek wisdom upwardly! From people that love you and can help you!

Ponder on these statements today:

“He only profits from praise who values criticism” -Heinrich Heine

“Don’t ever be afraid to ESCAPE into the EMBRACE of God’s grace!” – Pastor Francois van Neikerk, Hatfield Christian Centre
