I’ve recently found myself pondering a couple of statements often heard in the church world: “Am I ready for my next season?” and “I am waiting on God to open a door for me to do ministry.” Why do we feel this way? Why do we feel our ministry has not already begun?

As believers, we are called to spread the gospel everywhere we
go (Mark 16:15). Ministry is not a position or even an ambition but a lifestyle we live, daily. When Jesus walked the earth, sure he did ministry, but he was the ministry. Samuel Brengle, a leader of the Salvation Army, said leadership ” is not won by promotion, but my many prayers and tears.”

In a recent Sunday service, Bishop Tony Miller made a statement that stuck with me; he said, “We are all a part of the business, “Almighty and Sons”. When it comes to the body of Christ, I am just as important as the pastor speaking on Sunday morning, my assignment might be different but I have the same abilities and mission, as do “appointed” leaders.

In the King James Version of the Bible the word leader is only mentioned 6 times. God calls us “servants”, He never said “Moses, my leader” but “Moses, my servant.” We are called to be servants of God and everywhere we go we are to be a reflection of our heavenly Father. Ephesians 5:1 states, we are to “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children”. Whether in a pulpit or behind a desk we are leaders in the great army of the Lord.

Don’t wait for the “appointed” position to start your ministry. START NOW! John the Baptist never preformed miracles and he preached in the wilderness but he was known to be a major leader of his time. Don’t look at the natural but look at the supernatural! We don’t just need the pastors, prophets and evangelist but the businessmen, the doctors, the school teachers, the plumbers and the Wal-mart clerks willing to be a SERVANT and spread the good news of the gospel.

Ponder it…
